I’m a bit of a travel expert – my favorite meal is this easy feast I make in my hotel room

Ah, the glamor of travel.

An accomplished globetrotter, known for her sojourns to glam destinations, she sent fans into a tizzy when she revealed that one of her favorite meals in any country is one she cooks in her hotel room.

Samantha Brown, host of PBS’s “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love,” made the modest admission on social media with a quick video that showed her in relatively average-looking digs using a clam chowder filled with lettuce to prepare a quick but healthy dinner. One she confessed was “about as fancy as I get these days.”

“I’ve been making my own hotel room salad for years in three-star hotels all over the United States — they’re the ones that give you the big refrigerators,” Brown told her Instagram followers.

“I go to the nearest supermarket, collect all the ingredients, hopefully organic, and then have a really healthy meal.”

It was inspired, she said, “by my love of supermarkets, which I visit as if they were a local attraction… as well as just wanting to stay in my room and watch useless TV.”

The jet setter’s favorite ingredients are chopped romaine, lettuce and mushrooms — with “the rawest dressing I can find in the refrigerated section,” she said, declaring sesame ginger as her “go-to.”

Brown previously admitted in an interview with Travel + Leisure that he likes to get “lost” in the many places he travels.

“A lot of times, especially when you’re out and about during the day — you don’t want to go from menu to menu or restaurant to restaurant,” she said, noting that she’s always looking for local amenities like snacks. cafes and places to buy groceries on the go.

While some fans were quick to question her salad style, many others agreed with the idea of just being at home wherever you are.

“I always visit grocery stores like you – like they’re another attraction on my list of things to see,” said one traveler.

“Recently I visited a store in Croatia and just had to laugh at the display of Oreos. Like, they’re obsessed with them!”

“The last time I was in NYC, I was shocked at how expensive restaurants were, so we picked up ingredients at Whole Foods and ate in our room! It was the best,” shared a budget-minded Big Apple visitor.

Do-it-yourself in-room dining may be common among frequent travelers, it turns out – with one creative road warrior showing how he makes his own pizzas in hotel bathrooms.

And one travel expert even warned against using the hotel’s iron – which suggested it was often used by flight crew to reheat food during their stay.

But that’s nothing compared to the dangers of the complimentary coffee station, apparently — one flight attendant claimed they’d known colleagues to use the ubiquitous pots to sterilize their unmentionables while on the go.
