Influencer criticized for transparent dress at friend’s wedding: ‘Not for you’

Another day, another influencer who made headlines by wearing a see-through dress to a wedding, and this time it’s none other than WAG royalty, Nadia Bartel.

She left little to the imagination as she attended a friend’s wedding over the weekend, wearing a sheer, lace dress with her underwear on full display.

The Melbourne socialite and fashion entrepreneur’s outfit was a floor-length fitted gown by her designer friend, Effie Kats.

The dress, known as the Valiya Maxi Dress, retails for $329 and features a strapless bodice.

The image on the brand’s website shows that the item does not come with a built-in bra, but to maintain some modesty, Bartel chose to wear a tank top underneath.

She teamed the outfit with high-waisted black lingerie, which showed through the figure-hugging skirt.

The 39-year-old styled her hair long, curly and opted for a sleek, neutral make-up with a glossy lip.

To keep the focus on her stunning dress, she wore minimal jewellery, accessorizing with just a silver watch and ring.

Etiquette experts note that wearing white or anything that distracts from the bride is considered “bad form”, as it can be seen as an attempt to upstage the bride.

As a result, Bartel’s revealing outfit faced some criticism online.

Commenters on Facebook called her “pathetically desperate” and labeled her outfit “attention-seeking”, with one person simply saying, “Yuck”.

Another added: “Participating in someone’s wedding is not about you. It’s about the bride.”

In the photos shared on her Stories, Bartel was pictured with her boyfriend, Peter Dugmore, who looked stripped down in a gray suit, white button-down shirt, black tie and shiny shoes.

The couple went Instagram official in December 2022, sharing a loved-up photo, and in August, Bartel referred to Dugmore as “he” in a Q&A video.

In the candid Q&A session, Bartel admitted to feeling devastated following her 2019 divorce from Jimmy Bartel after 11 years of marriage.

“I felt like my life was over, which seems silly to think about now,” she said.

At the time, Bartel was not actively looking for a new relationship, as she was happy with her life and her two children.

However, her interest was piqued when Dugmore sent her a message on Instagram.

“I don’t usually respond to messages on Instagram, but for some reason I do,” she admitted.

She noticed that they had mutual friends and that he didn’t post much – something she found attractive.

After exchanging a few messages, she agreed to meet him at The Tan, a popular hangout spot in Melbourne, and they’ve been together ever since.

“I never thought I’d meet this person, but there was something about seeing him and hearing his voice, his mannerisms, I just felt an instant spark and energy, which was crazy because I’d never felt that before. with anyone since the time of separation,” she said.

“We took it very slowly and now we have a great relationship because of it.”

Bartel also touched on the possibility of having children together, saying, “I’m older now, so I don’t know when or if that might happen, but it’s nice to get to the point where you can feel that way again.”
