A Walmart employee is warning women against using the retailer’s restroom, saying serious health risks are hiding in plain sight.
The employee, named Devan, made the public service announcement in a TikTok video, which has garnered 611,000 views and a lot of buzz.
“It’s about men and women, but mostly women, and you’ll see why,” Devan said, before pointing out that toilet paper was the problem.
Before urinating or defecating inside the store, the employee asked shoppers to check inside the toilet paper roll dispensers to see if IV drug users had wiped their needles.
In the video, Devan showed a photo of a toilet roll which was stained with blood-like stains.
“This is from drug users who use needles going into the bathroom, taking that cover that’s on it [the toilet roll dispenser] off, putting their needles in there and cleaning their needles,” Devan claimed.
He added that even if you don’t see blood on the roll, it’s important to check for needle-like holes as needles aren’t necessarily always bloody after use.
“If you want to be sure, remove the cover, check the toilet paper. If you feel that way, get up and throw it in the trash can,” he urged.
He said Walmart shoppers should bring their own tissues to ensure their safety.
The Post has contacted the seller for comment.
Devan said he’s personally seen blood-stained paper once or twice at Walmart — but onlookers said they’ve seen similar things in a number of public restrooms.
“I saw this in a small cafe in Rome, Italy. it’s a worldwide dilemma,” wrote one.
Meanwhile, others were shocked by the revelation and thanked Devan for his public service announcement.
“I would never have thought of that! Thanks so much for the heads up,” said one grateful shopper.
“Thanks for the tip!! This is crazy!! What a scar. Simple things like toilet paper can be a hazard,” said a second shocked viewer.
This isn’t the first time someone on TikTok has warned their followers about the danger.
Last year, TikTok whistleblower Dane Jones warned that he shared a photo of a roll of toilet paper covered in tiny red spots along with long, thin, colorless marks.
“If you look closely, you’ll see a bunch of little red blood spots,” Jones noted. “This isn’t from someone’s bloody nose or a minor accident.”
“It’s from someone cleaning their needles — dirty needles to be exact,” he continued. “We don’t know if this was one person or several people cleaning their needles from injecting drugs.”
He asked anyone who saw such a sight to leave the public bath immediately.
